Friday:
drive up from SJ: leave around 9am.
Bay Area children museum: reciprocal network for cdm so tickets are 50% off. Lunch at bean sprouts cafe inside the museum. Spent until 3pm here!
Drove rest of the way to Santa Rosa, staying at Flamingo resort. Ordered food at the restaurant and went to the pool.
Safeway right next to hotel, for any snacks and water. The water at the hotel was really hard and cloudy.
Free electric car charging at flamingo by the meeting rooms.
Hit/miss on the room. It was loud and walls are thin. Squeaky floors, sink didn’t drain well, wasn’t black out curtains as promised for the king suite. But they provide a travel crib and the pool is awesome. Has pool towels and drinks by the pool. Maybe face the parking lot and not the pool?
Saturday:
Breakfast at 8:30am at flamingo resort restaurant- opens at 8am, brunch menu on weekends.
Traintown opens at 10am, we drove to Sonoma after breakfast.
Parking gets packed so we parked across the street. Bought tickets for the train and 5 tickets for rides though we ended up not using 1 since Jayden couldn’t go on any rides by himself. Train was $9.25 per person. Next time if you know your toddler would want to ride it more than once, go once with each parent (so 4 tickets). There’s 1 stop during the train ride to see alpacas and goats and go into the little “town”. Ride lasts about 20 mins. There’s also a carousel, plane ride (36in min), Ferris wheel and a spinning locomotion ride.
Pro tip: get a conductor hat from the gift shop! So cute! I wanted to get Jayden one but he didn’t want to put it on. ~$17
Could have had lunch at Jacob’s next to traintown but we drove down the street to downtown. Ate at the red grape and walked around downtown/town square.
Drove back to Santa Rosa, went swimming at the pool. Had dinner at Sushi Rosa downtown Santa Rosa which had a robot to deliver food. Food was okay, Jayden liked the vegetarian udon.
Had noble folk ice cream couple stores down after, the ice cream was so good!!! Highly recommend.
Sunday: had coffee and breakfast at Avid coffee howarth park opened at 11. We went just before 11, the line started before 11 to buy tickets. We should have gone earlier because the playground area was pretty nice. Rode the train twice, very slow but Jayden liked it. Also rode the carousel and petted animals at the animal barn. Tickets needed for all, $2 per ticket.
Lunch ordered from hotel restaurant, Jayden napped, then went to the pool at 5-6pm. Ordered doordash for dinner and hung out in the room.
Monday: breakfast at 8am at grossman noshery. Picked it because it’s next to the train where you can see the schedule on Google maps. You can sit by the window and see the train too. Great salmon latke Benedict and cinnamon French toast.
Had coffee at aroma and waited for the next train. Snoopy characters around the depot park.
Left Santa Rosa and stopped by Tiburon for blackies pasture. Stroller friendly. Walked to south of knoll playground where there’s an art installation by Thomas Jackson. That was cool. Then played a little at the playground but the sun was beaming. We walked back and had a lunch for Jayden at the benches by the water. Drove back to sj after through Sf.
